When welcoming your baby via international surrogacy in certain overseas countries like Ukraine, Georgia, or Russia, it is important to be aware that they will be born stateless and you will need to apply for Australian citizenship by descent before you can come back home. In order to prove a biological relationship, the Department of Home Affairs will request that you undergo DNA testing. This testing must be carried out by a laboratory that is accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
Identilab offers special DNA paternity testing pricing for our surrogacy families. It is our privilege to be able to assist with this part of your journey. We are proud to be the preferred provider of DNA testing services for Growing Families, an advocacy group bringing together intended parents, surrogates, and experts.
We also offer expedited testing options for surrogacy families: Express Testing, where results will be available within 2 working days of your samples arriving at the lab rather than our standard processing time of 5 working days; and, Ultra Express Testing, where results will be available within 12 hours of your samples arriving at the lab.

There are 3 easy steps to
prove parentage for
international surrogacy:
1. Order
Place your order online or by contacting us by phone, email or through our contact form. We’ll send your collection kits that day if ordered by 12pm on a weekday (Brisbane time). Orders received on a weekend or after 12pm on a weekday will be sent the next business day. Kits are sent in discreet packaging via Australia Post for free, or there is an Express Post option for an additional fee. Kits for overseas participants will be sent once we have received advice from the Department of Home Affairs about the collection location.
2. Collect
Your collection kit includes full instructions on how to have your samples collected by your chosen medical professional. It’s just a swab from inside the mouth – no blood tests required. Please note that any charges for this collection are to be negotiated with the collector and are not covered by Identilab testing fees. A security satchel and pre-paid envelope are included for returning the samples to the laboratory. If you are located in Brisbane, we can collect your samples in our office at no charge. Collection of overseas samples will take place at an approved panel physician as directed by the Department of Home Affairs. Please note that while we do assist in this process, Identilab is not responsible for these collection appointments.
3. Results
Once we have all the samples at the lab, we’ll perform our testing as quickly as possible. You’ll receive your results via email within 2 business days of us receiving your samples (providing the samples are of good quality and additional testing is not required). Results will also be sent directly to the Department of Home Affairs.
