Our at-home paternity test kits are used to either confirm or exclude a biological relationship between an alleged father and a child. A simple mouth swab, from the child and parent in question, is all that is needed for our lab to determine whether a man is genetically related to the child. If you want to know if you are the mother of a child, you’ll need our maternity DNA test.
Our home paternity DNA test kits are available to buy online for delivery anywhere in Australia. Simply return your DNA samples in the included reply paid envelope and you’ll receive your results in a discreet manner within 5 days of us receiving your completed collection kit.
The results of an at-home paternity DNA test cannot be used for legal purposes, because the identities of the people taking part in the DNA test have not been confirmed by an independent person. The results provided from the at home parentage test are therefore for your peace of mind and personal knowledge only. If you require the results of a paternity test for legal purposes such as establishing the rights and duties of an alleged father – you’ll need our Legally Admissible Paternity Test.

How Does Paternity Testing Work?
Paternity tests work by comparing the DNA genetic profile of the child to that of the potential dad. As children inherit 50% of their DNA from each parent, we can compare the two participants’ genetic profiles to see how likely it is that the child inherited their DNA from the father in question.
At Identilab, we look at 23 DNA markers (as well as 2 markers that tell us the sex of the person) to provide Australia’s most reliable paternity test results. All paternity testing is carried out in our NATA-accredited Australian testing laboratory by scientists with over 45 years of combined experience in forensic & human identification sciences.
This at-home paternity DNA test kit includes testing for the known mother, the alleged father, and one child (additional children can be tested for $165 each).
DNA Testing Father & Child Only
We highly recommend including samples from both parents to ensure you are getting the most reliable results, but paternity testing can be performed with the father only.

There are 3 easy steps to

1. Order Your At Home Paternity Test Kit
Place your order online or by contacting us by phone, email or through our contact form. We’ll send your collection kits that day if ordered by 12pm on a weekday (Brisbane time). Orders received on a weekend or after 12pm on a weekday will be sent the next business day. Kits are sent in discreet packaging via Australia Post.
2. Collect Your Samples
Your collection kit includes full instructions on how to take your samples at home – it’s just a quick and easy swab from inside the mouth. Package the samples in the supplied pre-paid return envelope and drop them back in the post.
3. Results
Once we have all the samples at the lab, we’ll perform our testing as quickly as possible. You’ll receive your results via email within 5 business days of us receiving your samples (providing the samples are of good quality and additional testing is not required).
